Relic gravitational waves produced after preheating

چکیده

We show that gravitational radiation is produced quite efficiently in interactions of classical waves created by resonant decay of a coherently oscillating field. For simple models of chaotic inflation in which the inflaton interacts with another scalar field, we find that today’s ratio of energy density in gravitational waves per octave to the critical density of the universe can be as large as 10 at the maximal wavelength of order 10 cm. In the pure λφ model, the maximal today’s wavelength of gravitational waves produced by this mechanism is of order 10 cm, close to the upper bound of operational LIGO and TIGA frequencies. The energy density of waves in this model, though, is likely to be well below the sensitivity of LIGO or TIGA at such frequencies. We discuss possibility that in other inflationary models interaction of classical waves can lead to an even stronger gravitational radiation

Stochastic Gravitational Wave Production After Inflation

In many models of inflation, the period of accelerated expansion ends with preheating, a highly non-thermal phase of evolution during which the inflaton pumps energy into a specific set of momentum modes of field(s) to which it is coupled. This necessarily induces large, transient density inhomogeneities which can source a significant spectrum of gravitational waves. In this paper, we consider ...

Stochastic background of gravitational waves from hybrid preheating.

The process of reheating the Universe after hybrid inflation is extremely violent. It proceeds through the nucleation and subsequent collision of large concentrations of energy density in bubblelike structures, which generate a significant fraction of energy in the form of gravitational waves. We study the power spectrum of the stochastic background of gravitational waves produced at reheating ...

The spectra of relic gravitational waves produced as a result of cosmological expansion of the inflationary models are derived in Brans-Dicke (BD)theory of gravity. The time dependence of the very early Hubble parameter and matter energy density are derived from frequency dependent spectrum of relic gravitational waves. Also it is found that Brans-Dicke scalar field contributes to the energy dens...

Relic Backgrounds of Gravitational Waves from Cosmic Turbulence

Turbulence may have been produced in the early universe during several kind of non-equilibrium processes. Periods of cosmic turbulence may have left a detectable relic in the form of stochastic backgrounds of gravitational waves. In this paper we derive general expressions for the power spectrum of the expected signal. Extending previous works on the subject, we take into account the effects of...

Estimates of maximum energy density of cosmological gravitational-wave backgrounds

The recent claim by BICEP2 of evidence for primordial gravitational waves has focused interest on the potential for early-Universe cosmology using gravitational waves. In addition to cosmic microwave background detectors, efforts are underway to carry out gravitational-wave astronomy with pulsar timing arrays, space-based detectors, and terrestrial detectors. These efforts will probe a wide ran...
